The Construction Defects Alliance is an informal alliance of homeowners and Owners’ Management Companies (OMCs) based in developments affected by construction defects who have come together to campaign for the implementation of the redress proposals contained in the Oireachtas Housing Committee’s report, Safe As Houses?

Safe As Houses? proposed:

  • The establishment of a redress scheme to assist homeowners with latent defects;
  • Provision of an information and advice service for those affected by defects;
  • Redress scheme to be funded through industry levy matched by Government funding, tax write offs or interest-free loans.

In campaigning for the implementation of Safe As Houses? proposals, the Alliance has the support of the Apartment Owners’ Network as well as a number of professionals working in the construction sector. It also currently involves owners and OMCs from over a dozen different locations around greater Dublin area which are affected by construction defects Including developments near Swords, Blanchardstown, south Meath, City Centre, Dublin 6 and 12, Stillorgan and Sandyford.
